We truly hope and pray that this initiative will act as a broad platform to keep you informed, involved and inspired about all that school chaplaincy is, does and plans for the south coast of the Fleurieu.

Great to have you connect with us.

We truly hope and pray that this initiative will act as a broad platform to keep you informed, involved and inspired about all that school chaplaincy is, does and plans for the South Coast of the Fleurieu.

As you look over all the information and details about us, please always remember the critically important underlying reason why SCSMSG (school chaplaincy) exists:

“… to be the hands, feet and heart of Jesus” in our schools via the fine work of dedicated, determined and fully supported Pastoral Care Workers (PCW – chaplains) ministering in OUR schools with OUR kids.

I am always personably quite sobered by the words of Jesus as recorded in Matthew 25 where He told us that what we do for the’ least of these’ we do for Him…

I am also very thankful for the situation that we can undertake this school chaplaincy ministry as well as for the many people, churches and organisations who have helped us build to where we are today.

Praise the Lord!

As you look through these pages, please do three important things:

1. PRAY for each PCW that they may be:

  • Protected in their work at all times; and,
  • Connected with their school students and their school community; and
  • Directed by the Lord in all things.

2. SHARE what you have read and learned about SCSMSG with your family, church and social network.

3. CONSIDER how you might be able to help either you time, talent or resources.

PS. How good is it that SCSMSG is now not only directly supported by many local churches and the wonderful Victor Harbor Friendship Centre, we now have both Beyond Bank and Drakes onboard as well, AND one of our chaplains, Zahrna Manly was recently named as Young Citizen of the Year for the City of Victor Harbor!

Goolwa Secondary College

Nginti nankeri (Hello), my name is Midi Bettcher, and I am honoured to introduce myself as the new Pastoral Care Worker at Goolwa Secondary College. Although this role is new for me, I am not new to the school—I have been part of Goolwa Secondary College since it first opened. Over the years, I have come to deeply love and appreciate the school’s culture, students, staff and leadership team, and I am grateful for the opportunity to support our community in a different way.

My passion for helping young people is grounded in my Christian faith, which guides me to show compassion, understanding, and genuine care. I believe every student has unique value, and I am committed to creating a safe and supportive space where they feel heard and encouraged.

I look forward to continuing my journey with this wonderful school and serving our community with kindness, integrity, and care.
