The Chosen Movie Fundraiser

April 24, 2025
On Thursday evening 10 April, some 159 people attended the Victa Cinema to support this ministry and enjoy the latest screening of “The Chosen.”

This episode of the acclaimed ongoing series saw Jesus, though clearly challenged by knowing what lay ahead of Him, riding into Jerusalem as king but finding His Father’s house has been turned from a sacred place of prayer into a corrupt market and den of thieves.

As the Jewish religious leaders and High Priest schemed against Him during the Passover festival, Jesus strikes first – literally turning the tables on religious corruption…

Both dramatic and poignant!

This fundraiser event was a great success and directly raised $1,930 for SCSMSG.

It also indirectly assisted us to publicly launch this website.

Our heartfelt thanks to all who attended, many of whom also donated additionally on the night.

Praise the Lord!

Special thanks must also go to our brilliant colleagues at the Victor Harbor Christian Friendship Centre (Christian Bookshop) who greatly assisted by preselling tickets for us as well as to the City of Victor Harbor for generously waiving their standard additional fee for event.

And, the free Victa Cinema drink prior to the movie also went down very well indeed.

Thank you Jarrad and all at Victa Cinemas.

Shalom, shalom!

Goolwa Secondary College

Nginti nankeri (Hello), my name is Midi Bettcher, and I am honoured to introduce myself as the new Pastoral Care Worker at Goolwa Secondary College. Although this role is new for me, I am not new to the school—I have been part of Goolwa Secondary College since it first opened. Over the years, I have come to deeply love and appreciate the school’s culture, students, staff and leadership team, and I am grateful for the opportunity to support our community in a different way.

My passion for helping young people is grounded in my Christian faith, which guides me to show compassion, understanding, and genuine care. I believe every student has unique value, and I am committed to creating a safe and supportive space where they feel heard and encouraged.

I look forward to continuing my journey with this wonderful school and serving our community with kindness, integrity, and care.
