I was on the selection panel who chose her and we all knew almost immediately that she was the absolute right person. Her unique mix of great experience, clear passion for young people and very engaging / friendly persona made her perfect for the challenging role. Indeed Amy has been an excellent PCW! Her GSC principal once described her as an integral part of the full staff team whose contribution to the wellbeing of students at the school was clearly outstanding in all ways.
Amy’s commitment to her students, especially those who face significant challenges either in school or at home was exemplary. She even shared with us that recently, during a personal hospital visit, she took time to assist and support a young GSC student who was facing a significant health issue in their family.
…Talk about a chaplain being the hands and feet of Jesus in their school!
Just wonderful.
Amy’s legacy is one of sensitive caring, passionate advocacy and brilliant creativity in her difficult role at work. Her above and beyond (you could; say ‘going the extra mile’) contribution to the SCSMSG committee was also exceptional. We all enjoyed and were stimulated by her regular reports and sharing at committee meetings etc.
Amy always kept us fully across what she was doing in her role at the school and regularly requested specific prayer support for some very difficult and even dangerous situations. She also spoke regularly at local community events and was directly instrumental in taking Operation Flinders and Christmas lunch to GSC.
We all will miss her and wish her all the best as she takes up her next important role… motherhood.
Thank you Lord for Amy Mackenzie
