Fleurieu Male Choir Fundraiser @ Yilki Uniting

August 16, 2025
Yilki Uniting's annual Fleurieu Male Choir fundraising event once again delivered an entertaining Sunday afternoon in support of School Chaplaincy

On Sunday the 10th August, Yilki Uniting Church hosted, what has been an annual, fundraiser for School Chaplaincy in collaboration with the Fleurieu Male Choir.

We thank Yilki Church and the Fleurieu Male Choir for providing the opportunity to talk about the importance of our Pastoral Care Workers and how we can support them. A pleasant afternoon was shared by everyone who filled the church to listen to good music. Friendly & informative chats were had over a delicious afternoon tea, and $790 was raised.

The choir had its beginnings in 1988 as a double quartet within the Encounter Bay Probus Club.  The following year men outside of Probus expressed an interest in becoming part of the choir and were encouraged to join, establishing the choir as a community based organisation.

Two years later the name “Fleurieu Male Choir” was born aiming to encourage men to enjoy music and fellowship through choral singing, and assist the community and charitable organisations.

They perform throughout the year around the Fleurieu Peninsular, and beyond. New members and new causes to support are always welcome, so men and causes, if you are interested please contact their secretary  Darryl Carter at darrylcarterace@gmail.com

Goolwa Secondary College

Nginti nankeri (Hello), my name is Midi Bettcher, and I am honoured to introduce myself as the new Pastoral Care Worker at Goolwa Secondary College. Although this role is new for me, I am not new to the school—I have been part of Goolwa Secondary College since it first opened. Over the years, I have come to deeply love and appreciate the school’s culture, students, staff and leadership team, and I am grateful for the opportunity to support our community in a different way.

My passion for helping young people is grounded in my Christian faith, which guides me to show compassion, understanding, and genuine care. I believe every student has unique value, and I am committed to creating a safe and supportive space where they feel heard and encouraged.

I look forward to continuing my journey with this wonderful school and serving our community with kindness, integrity, and care.

Nakkan xx
